Cannes is where you may bump into your favourite Hollywood star and it is the proverbial playground of the rich and famous. Designer boutiques line the boulevards and yachts bobbing in the harbor make a very pretty sight. Monte Carlo is the home of casinos and Formula One racing and warrants a visit!

Take a walk down Cannes' famous Boulevard de la Croisette - shop and the take in the breathtaking view of the Mediterranean sea, before settling down for a drink and some sumptuous fare.

THINGS TO DO AND SEE

  • Make that trip to Monte Carlo and try your luck at the casino
  • It's a short distance to the lavender fields ofGrasse and a visit to a parfumerie is warranted!
  • If you are an art aficionado pay a visit to the Notre Dame de Vie in Mougins, where Pablo Picasso once lived.
  • Relax on the beach and take in the sun
  • Antique car lovers can view the late Prince Rainier III's private collection of antique cars when in Monte Carlo
  • Drive up to the old town of Cannes on Suquet Hill. Get a panoramic view of the sea and the city below.

GRAB A BITE

If you made it to Suquet Hill, then stop by at Mantel and sample the sea bass - the restaurant is simple but sophisticated and has a distinct Mediterranean feel to it. There are plenty of Michelin starred restaurants in Cannes as well as Monte Carlo, but sometimes to get the real flavor of the local food a smaller bistro is best!

SHOPPING

Designer boutiques abound along the Croisette in Cannes as they do in Monte Carlo Avenue des Beaux-Arts. But the thrill would be to walk into the little boutiques and stumble up on knick knacks that you won't find in the designer shops!

Temperatures are a pleasant 62°F/20°C in the month of May and the heat turns up to a ho 82°F/29°C at the height of summer in August after which the temperatures start falling again. November can get cold as winter is then round the corner.
