Late Mr. Gautam Chadha, Co-Founder

TIRUN was established and promoted by Gautam Chadha, an entrepreneur and a travel industry professional.

Mr Chadha had over 35 years of experience in the travel industry in India and abroad. In 1991, the entrepreneur in him surfaced and he returned India to set-up the India operations of Discover The World Marketing (DTWM), representing the leading global travel brands including US Airways, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn Hotels, Hertz and Universal Studios.

Mr Chadha and his team's track record showed the value creation for all brands represented. High brand awareness, continuous annual revenue growth and quality service delivery which is a ‘benchmark’ within the industry, are his notable contributions. He was responsible for spearheading the cruise revolution in India.

On May 01, 2001 he rechristened DTWM-India as TIRUN, preparing himself and his team for a new and challenging future business environment concentrated on cruise representations. In 2001, he also set-up one of India's first online travel portals JourneyMart.com.

The Chairperson and Founder of TIRUN, Mrs. Ratna Chadha has been at the helm of introducing various global travel products and pioneered the concept of cruise vacations in India over the past two decades. As an entrepreneur who is today an established industry veteran, Mrs. Chadha has harnessed her innate business growth abilities to change the way India vacations. Mrs. Chadha has over 39 years of experience within the travel industry, having worked with various leading travel brands during her career. An honours graduate from India’s premiere educational institute, Lady Shri Ram College, Mrs. Chadha initiated her career when she was selected as a management trainee by ITC’s Welcomgroup Hotels division in 1977, and, subsequently spent over a decade in various roles within the organisation.

In 1991, Mrs. Chadha along with her husband, Mr. Gautam Chadha, established the franchise of Discover the World Marketing (DTWM) in India, representing global travel brands in the country including Hertz, US Airways, Embassy Suites, Hampton Inn Hotels, Universal Studios and subsequently Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. in 1993. In her initial capacity as Director of Sales and Marketing, Mrs. Chadha spearheaded the strategic development of all brands and drove all sales channels, leading to year-on-year growth and industry ‘benchmarks’ of service quality across products. By 2001, DTWM-India was rechristened as TIRUN Travel Marketing, from there on focusing exclusively on cruise vacations promoting the three cruise brands within the umbrella of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. – Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises and Azamara Club Cruises. In 2012, Mrs Chadha assumed the role of Chief Executive of TIRUN Travel Marketing and this year she was elected as the Chairperson of TIRUN.

In 2017, TIRUN Travel Marketing celebrated 25 years of its partnership with Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. in India. The success of this continued relationship and growth is a reflection of Mr. Gautam Chadha’s leadership, which is now carried forth by Mrs. Ratna Chadha and her team. Headquartered in New Delhi, TIRUN has a pan India presence.

Varun Chadha, Chief Operation Officer, TIRUN Travel Marketing, India Representative of Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd with a portfolio of its 4 brands; Royal Caribbean International, Celebrity Cruises, Azamara Club Cruises and SilverSea, has been responsible for adding vigour to the Company's vision of becoming the unmatched leader in Travel Marketing and Cruises in India. He keeps a keen eye on the Company's Growth Strategy while lending his support to the key areas of Management, Sales and Marketing. He is passionate and determined to take the family business to new heights.

Varun is a product of the Doon School and started his professional career with KPMG before moving on to another part of their family business, JourneyMart.com, where he still sits on the board. He completed his Masters of Business Administration in 2016 from Singapore Management University. His spare time is spent in playing golf.

Pradeep is a highly experienced senior business leader, now involved in business consulting and education.

With over 37 years of experience in the FMCG industry, Pradeep is an expert in building businesses in both mature and emerging markets. He has managed a wide range of iconic brands across some of the world's fastest-growing and complex emerging markets including China, India, Russia, Turkey, Middle East and ASEAN as well as developed markets like ANZ, Japan, Korea. He has a deep understanding of market dynamics and cultural diversity. He has a proven track record and passion for turning organizations around.

Pradeep was Executive Vice President and President of Asia Pacific (AP) and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa (EEMEA) for Mondelēz International till the end of 2013. Launched on October 1, 2012, Mondelēz International comprises of the global snacking and food brands of the former Kraft Foods Inc. Pradeep has served as President, Asia Pacific, since 2008 and he assumed his responsibility for the EEMEA region in 2012.

Previously, Pradeep was Regional Managing Director for Asia, Africa, and the Middle East for Fonterra Brands. He was a member of the Fonterra leadership team as well as the company's global brands marketing group. Prior to Fonterra, he spent 19 years with Gillette, working in India, Russia, Turkey and Asia Pacific. Pradeep has also worked with Nestle, J Walter Thompson and the Tata group.

Pradeep holds a Master of Management Studies degree from the Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Bombay University, and a BA with Honors degree in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University. Pradeep is also the Founding President of Food Industry Asia (FIA), an Advisory Board Member of SMU Lee Kong Chian School of Business and a Senior Advisor to Hay Group and McKinsey & Co.

Ashok Anantaram, Tirun Advisor

An MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, and an M.Sc., in Tourism Management from the Scottish Hotel School, UK, Ashok Anantram was one of the earliest IIM graduates to enter the Indian hospitality industry. He joined India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) in 1970 and after a brief stint proceeded to UK on a scholarship. On his return to India, he joined ITC Hotels Limited in 1975. Over 30 years in this organization, he held senior leadership positions in Sales & Marketing and was Vice President – Sales & Marketing. He was closely involved in decision making at the corporate level and saw the chain grow from a single hotel in 1975 to a very large multi-brand professional hospitality group. He led a large team of Sales & Marketing professionals and handled all aspects of the function both within India and overseas through the Group's association with Star wood.

During his stint at ITC hotels, he also headed the Human Resource & Training functions for a brief period.

Ashok Anantram represented the company at several interactions with Government and Industry Associations on Tourism and Hospitality. He also held key positions in tourism industry bodies including Vice Chairman of the PATA Indian Chapter and Executive Committee member of the India Convention Promotion Bureau.

He has a passion for teaching and have been faculty at numerous programs related to marketing and hospitality. He was a visiting faculty in the Department of Marketing, University of Strathclyde, UK and taught Sales & Marketing in their MBA program for three years.

Following his retirement in 2003, he moved to Chennai and, worked for two years as President - Business Development at Apollo Hospitals Ltd.

Currently he is a Consultant - Sales & Marketing with GRT Hotels & Resorts for the last seven years.

Noni Chawla, Tirun Advisor

Nripjit Singh (Noni) Chawla completed his MBA from the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta in 1970. For 32 years, he worked in the corporate sector. Since 2002, he has been a part time teacher, a part time management advisor, director on several boards, in addition to taking a more serious interest in adventure travel, photography, fishing and reading, although not in that order.

Noni Chawla's work experience spans a diversity of industries and functions including:
• Hospitality & tourism
• Manufacturing
• Healthcare
• International trade
• Management consulting

Noni Chawla has an in-depth experience of setting up new businesses, including hotels, healthcare and consulting. He has worked for both the private and public sectors.

Noni Chawla has experience of working with and managing international joint venture partners and consultants. His functional experience spans marketing, business development, corporate planning, strategy formulation and implementation.

He has done consulting assignments for public and non-profit organizations including UNICEF, The World Bank and the African Development Bank. He has been a member of the National Tourism Council of the Government of India.

He has extensive experience in working across cultures, having travelled extensively for work and pleasure in more than 40 countries on three continents.

He has been a visiting faculty member at several business schools in India including the IIMs and the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad. He has been a regular contributor to business and travel publications. He is also a frequent speaker at management forums.

Noni Chawla is married to Nilima and has two children. He is an avid reader, a serious amateur photographer, a keen angler and an adventure traveler.
